We get several questions asked over and over again:

  1. What is Xylitol?
  2. What are the advantages?
  3. Why is it so expensive?
  4. Why do you use it?

The easy answers are:

  1. Xylitol is a polyol, a sugar alcohol. It is all natural, safe for diabetics and has many health benefits.
  2. It is all natural, safe for diabetics and has many health benefits.
  3. Mostly, it is made from birch bark or corn. Ice Chips Candy uses only the birch bark Xylitol in order to avoid any chance of using Genetically Modified Corn (GMO). Additionally, the process and availability render this product much more expensive than sugar.
  4. Ice Chips Candy uses Birchwood Xylitol (made in the USA), in order to access the health benefits, particularly the dental and diabetic advantages.

We researched and understood the benefits of Xylitol early on at our parent company Healing Leaf LLC. We even sold a compressed pill-like candy for a while but wanted something with a higher concentration of Xylitol and a lower price point. While we could easily acquire bulk Xylitol, we were told it was impossible to make a hard candy.

If you want to get an impossible task accomplished, you might try going to someone with little knowledge of the subject but a passion for getting things done. Because we were health product experts but not Xylitol experts we ignored all the warnings. Lo and behold, within two days of trying, we created a tasty hard Xylitol candy in three different yummy flavors. Within a week we had seven of our current 18 flavors and we were selling Ice Chips to our friends.

We never underestimate the public's willingness to do the right thing for their bodies. We understand it is possible to get a package of breath mints for a couple dollars. But those mints will not benefit teeth, fight germs and bacteria, prevent ear infections while being safe (and recommended) for diabetics.

So, in a nutshell, THAT is why we use Xylitol!

I first discovered Ice Chips Candy in Richland, Washington at of all places - I Craft store. My mom and the cashier stated they were the best candy. So, being the experimenter that I am, I bought almost all the flavors. What a find!!! they truly are the best candies and what makes them even better is that they are cheap in calories and good for the teeth. They are now my "go to" candy for my sweet cravings.

As a three time ovarian cancer survivor and diabetic I can testify that these are the most effective treatment for dry mouth and even nausea. I carried them each time I was at chemo and shared them with other patients. I now put them in care bags for cancer warriors. They are great!!

People keep saying how crazy it is that there isn't not warning anywhere about lethal to dogs so I checked on here on the website I was looking at the "candy" to buy at the bottom of that page says toxic to dogs and small animals.. plus isn't there tons of products out there that use Xylitol? you aren't gonna feed your dog some kinds of mouth wash or tooth paste so why give them this candy? it don't make any sense to me people are crying about this I have my pups and I wouldn't give them candy or tooth paste so I don't get it.. Stop whining people

I saw this on Shark Tank and purchased some at a local vitamin store when I decreased my sugar intake. I LOVE every flavor I have tried. HOWEVER, I AM APPALLED THAT THIS PRODUCT DOES NOT CARRY A WARNING THAT EVEN A SMALL AMOUNT OF XYLITOL CAN BE LETHAL IF INGESTED BY A DOG. AS THE OWNER OF A PUPPY, I AM APPALLED BY THE IRRESPONSIBILITY OF THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!

After watching it on shark tank I have been obsessed with finding them! Finally found a store and bought some! They are very good! Different but very good and have a cooling feel.

My partner and I just discovered ice chips at a local health food store in Tower District in the town we live. The second I saw the tin can I said to him, "Oh my gosh these are the candies on Shark Tank!" As Gaudiya Vaishnavas both my partner and I are vegan and the one thing we both crave are sweets. This candy not only fulfills and satisfies our sweet tooth but puts our minds at ease because of the simple ingredients and great taste. Great product!

I just picked up the cinnamon flavored ice chips at our local health food store. I've been wanting to try these ever since I saw the episode on shark tank, but C. was right, the shapes of them are great. I love picking out my next chip so I hope you don't ever change the shape to a standard mold. There's something fun about picking out your next odd chip size.

I love ice chips on the whole but found the Ginger flavor very disappointing. Sort of has an earthy, dirt taste to me. All the others are fantastic though. What a great product.
