We get several questions asked over and over again:

  1. What is Xylitol?
  2. What are the advantages?
  3. Why is it so expensive?
  4. Why do you use it?

The easy answers are:

  1. Xylitol is a polyol, a sugar alcohol. It is all natural, safe for diabetics and has many health benefits.
  2. It is all natural, safe for diabetics and has many health benefits.
  3. Mostly, it is made from birch bark or corn. Ice Chips Candy uses only the birch bark Xylitol in order to avoid any chance of using Genetically Modified Corn (GMO). Additionally, the process and availability render this product much more expensive than sugar.
  4. Ice Chips Candy uses Birchwood Xylitol (made in the USA), in order to access the health benefits, particularly the dental and diabetic advantages.

We researched and understood the benefits of Xylitol early on at our parent company Healing Leaf LLC. We even sold a compressed pill-like candy for a while but wanted something with a higher concentration of Xylitol and a lower price point. While we could easily acquire bulk Xylitol, we were told it was impossible to make a hard candy.

If you want to get an impossible task accomplished, you might try going to someone with little knowledge of the subject but a passion for getting things done. Because we were health product experts but not Xylitol experts we ignored all the warnings. Lo and behold, within two days of trying, we created a tasty hard Xylitol candy in three different yummy flavors. Within a week we had seven of our current 18 flavors and we were selling Ice Chips to our friends.

We never underestimate the public's willingness to do the right thing for their bodies. We understand it is possible to get a package of breath mints for a couple dollars. But those mints will not benefit teeth, fight germs and bacteria, prevent ear infections while being safe (and recommended) for diabetics.

So, in a nutshell, THAT is why we use Xylitol!

Awesome candy! Does wonders for my sweet tooth. I have been trying to get away from consuming Aspartame, so I was excited to find Ice Chips! Peppermint is my favorite. I just ordered the pineapple coconut, which I'm looking forward to. A little pricey but well worth it. A tin lasts me a long time. Also, there is a warning on the tin that states it is toxic to dogs and small animals.

Great product! Everything claimed is true, and there is a caution about toxicity to pets on the box, regardless what Deb in El Sagundo yelled.

mmmm delicious! I've tried the sour cherry and green apple both equally tasty. So good I placed an order for the large multi pack! Did not up my blood sugar. My Dr. will be glad to know.

Would like to see pink grapefruit soon. I'll be the first to order.

I bought the berry flavored at a Hallmark store. Enjoyed it, so decided to order some other flavors. I ordered:

Margarita: love this flavor.

Pina Colada: love it

Lemon: tastes great, not sour at all, but a nice refreshing taste.

Peppermint: I was stunned. While expecting it to taste like peppermint candy, I was greatly disappointed. In my opinion, it tastes like Vick's Vapor Rub. On the other hand, my daughter said she liked it and didn't taste anything but peppermint. Okay, she gets that box. wink

Coffee and cream: doesn't disappoint. It does taste like coffee and cream, but not a flavor I would purchase again.

Root Beer Float: it does taste like root beer, but I don't like it as much as I thought I would.

All in all, I will be buying Margarita, Pina Colada and Lemon. Wishing you all great success!

I first discovered Ice Chips Candy in Richland, Washington at of all places - I Craft store. My mom and the cashier stated they were the best candy. So, being the experimenter that I am, I bought almost all the flavors. What a find!!! they truly are the best candies and what makes them even better is that they are cheap in calories and good for the teeth. They are now my "go to" candy for my sweet cravings.

As a three time ovarian cancer survivor and diabetic I can testify that these are the most effective treatment for dry mouth and even nausea. I carried them each time I was at chemo and shared them with other patients. I now put them in care bags for cancer warriors. They are great!!
