We get several questions asked over and over again:

  1. What is Xylitol?
  2. What are the advantages?
  3. Why is it so expensive?
  4. Why do you use it?

The easy answers are:

  1. Xylitol is a polyol, a sugar alcohol. It is all natural, safe for diabetics and has many health benefits.
  2. It is all natural, safe for diabetics and has many health benefits.
  3. Mostly, it is made from birch bark or corn. Ice Chips Candy uses only the birch bark Xylitol in order to avoid any chance of using Genetically Modified Corn (GMO). Additionally, the process and availability render this product much more expensive than sugar.
  4. Ice Chips Candy uses Birchwood Xylitol (made in the USA), in order to access the health benefits, particularly the dental and diabetic advantages.

We researched and understood the benefits of Xylitol early on at our parent company Healing Leaf LLC. We even sold a compressed pill-like candy for a while but wanted something with a higher concentration of Xylitol and a lower price point. While we could easily acquire bulk Xylitol, we were told it was impossible to make a hard candy.

If you want to get an impossible task accomplished, you might try going to someone with little knowledge of the subject but a passion for getting things done. Because we were health product experts but not Xylitol experts we ignored all the warnings. Lo and behold, within two days of trying, we created a tasty hard Xylitol candy in three different yummy flavors. Within a week we had seven of our current 18 flavors and we were selling Ice Chips to our friends.

We never underestimate the public's willingness to do the right thing for their bodies. We understand it is possible to get a package of breath mints for a couple dollars. But those mints will not benefit teeth, fight germs and bacteria, prevent ear infections while being safe (and recommended) for diabetics.

So, in a nutshell, THAT is why we use Xylitol!

big grin I totally love Ice chips. I bought the shark tank special last Christmas and gave a couple as stocking stuffers to my daughters. (and of course we shared) I wonder tho', is there a way to get a small sample of other flavors? Or maybe there could be a small sample of another flavor in all your orders. Just a thought. Anyway, this years order is all mine and I can't wait to get them. Merry Christmas and God bless you all!

Just wanted to let you know, I really like your candy and love that it comes in a tin. So refreshing compared to the usual plastic containers that are everywhere now days. I am pre-diabetic and pick up your little tins of candy ever so often. They taste wonderful and I can use the tin for something else later when it's empty. Reminds me of the days when plastic was not so much in use. Thank you!!

My hygienist recently introduced me to Ice Chips and I truly enjoyed the flavor and health benefits.

Have you considered asking the Department of Veterans Affairs and other federal agencies to sell this product in their stores and gift shops? They love supporting USA products, and the DVA has a section specific to health foods in their gift shop.

I've been seeing Ice Chips showing up in stores lately and I was skeptical because most things that claim to taste good and be good for you are usually sh*t. I finally decided to try them when my sister gave them the seal of approval. I've only tried the lemon ones so far but they're so awesome! They look so pretty and they're cold while you crunch them and its so cool! I love crunchable hard candy and trust me I'm not the kind of girl who likes healthy food, but I'm sold on these. I can eat them after brushing my teeth without worrying about them rotting.

I have an autoimmune disease called Sjogren's Syndrome which attacks the moisture producing glands in my body. Dry mouth symptoms can be very uncomfortable. My dentist told me about your ice chip candy and it has been very helpful to alleviate dry mouth symptoms. I would like to suggest that your company contact the Sjogren's Syndrome Foundation and see about placing an ad in their monthly newsletterwhich is called The Moisture Seekers. Your product could help so many people by increasing their day to day quality of life. That's for a great product!

Great candy. I am requesting that you consider selling it by the bag for people like me who enjoy it regularly. I feel like I am wasting metal and money, because I go through the tins relatively quickly. Have you considered packaging it for bulk purchases?

I had tried Spry Mints and gum in the past as a healthy alternative to sugar free gum and mints. I was not really thrilled with the taste. One day while browsing in the local drug store I saw Ice Chips and thought, why not? I'll give them a try. I was hooked on the first one. I immediately ran back and bought all three flavors they carried. I was curious if there were more flavors and looked up the website. I am now hooked on all of them! The shipping was beyond quick. The product and service is amazing, if I had one complaint, it would be the price. Those darn shark tank people. They certainly have to get their cut ;)

Nancy this is for reviews. if you have complaints then email the makers yourself and suck an egg. their quilter comments were part of a pitch and i don't think you understand what a review is. You tried the candy? confused that's what I thought. come back when you taste it.

I watched your segment on Shark Tank. In one sentence you alienated more than a million men and women who quilt. I, on occasion, enjoy a sweet treat, but I will never purchase your candy. How insulting and arrogant your comments were. Quilters not only produce beautiful pieces of art, they are carrying on a tradition handed down in families for many years.

LOVE this candy! I am on a restricted diet and a friend told me about them. I carry lemon in my purse to share and keep several other flavors in the car. Licorice is my favorite so far! I would LOVE CHOCOLATE, I miss chocolate!!! . Also Wish I could buy in bulk and refill my tins as I have quite the collection of tins and would like to reuse them. Keep up the great work!
