We get several questions asked over and over again:

  1. What is Xylitol?
  2. What are the advantages?
  3. Why is it so expensive?
  4. Why do you use it?

The easy answers are:

  1. Xylitol is a polyol, a sugar alcohol. It is all natural, safe for diabetics and has many health benefits.
  2. It is all natural, safe for diabetics and has many health benefits.
  3. Mostly, it is made from birch bark or corn. Ice Chips Candy uses only the birch bark Xylitol in order to avoid any chance of using Genetically Modified Corn (GMO). Additionally, the process and availability render this product much more expensive than sugar.
  4. Ice Chips Candy uses Birchwood Xylitol (made in the USA), in order to access the health benefits, particularly the dental and diabetic advantages.

We researched and understood the benefits of Xylitol early on at our parent company Healing Leaf LLC. We even sold a compressed pill-like candy for a while but wanted something with a higher concentration of Xylitol and a lower price point. While we could easily acquire bulk Xylitol, we were told it was impossible to make a hard candy.

If you want to get an impossible task accomplished, you might try going to someone with little knowledge of the subject but a passion for getting things done. Because we were health product experts but not Xylitol experts we ignored all the warnings. Lo and behold, within two days of trying, we created a tasty hard Xylitol candy in three different yummy flavors. Within a week we had seven of our current 18 flavors and we were selling Ice Chips to our friends.

We never underestimate the public's willingness to do the right thing for their bodies. We understand it is possible to get a package of breath mints for a couple dollars. But those mints will not benefit teeth, fight germs and bacteria, prevent ear infections while being safe (and recommended) for diabetics.

So, in a nutshell, THAT is why we use Xylitol!

every good review i agree with. i am eating 2 tins a week, and the tins are not planet friendly girls. i hafta tell you, you have the following, put them in little burlap sacks. every time i throw one away i feel guilt. i have repurposed a few and they do make good travel or beach throw away ashtrays. just a friendly but really serious suggestion.

I purchase these from two different local stores. My favorites are the Lemon, Coffee & Cream, Root Beer Float, and Pina Colada flavors. Being diabetic, these are great. I'm lucky in that I don't have a bad reaction to the Xylitol (when eating a lot of it), that some people have mentioned.. Malitol on the other hand.. nasty.. Can't wait to see what new flavors you all will come up with. I'd love to see a chocolate, coconut, and maybe a apple cinnamon flavor..

As a dental hygienist for over 25 years, I recommend many xylitol products for my patients. I learned about your Ice Chips at our dental convention, in Denver Colorado, in January. Very impressed with the variety of flavors and how these chips can help so many people with dry mouth and tooth decay issues. Thanks to your marketing, I now have a new way for patients to benefit from xylitol.

I get diarrhea pretty easy from foods and I just read some of these reviews about people complaining of this. I just wanted you to know I found your product a few months ago and have been buying a few each month....they last maybe a week total, if I'm lucky. I have not once had diarrhea from these. Guess I'm lucky and should knock on weed.
I also wanted you to know I just ordered a custom tray and can't wait for it to arrive and try some of the flavors I can't get around here. Thank you so much for the custom tray orders!

confused "sour" cherry isn't sour at all. Not even close. The flavor is what you would expect in a cough drop.

Berry mix seems to be good. Though I just ate several pieces, then read the reviews saying these things will give you diarrhea. lovely... can't wait. who makes a serving size of 2 pieces when the pieces aren't even consistent in size?!?!

My mother-in-law sent me two tins of Ice Chips candy in a care package she sent to my husband and I. I have Bipolar Disorder and the medications I take to maintain my fabulous stability cause extreme dry mouth. She thought that Xylitol would help with the dry mouth.

Within 24 hours of eating the candy, which tastes FABULOUS, near normal salivary flow was restored to my mouth. Ice Chips also tastes so good it is practically addicting! I am about to order a set of 6 tins: kudos to the ladies for offering free shipping to APO addresses big grin

I would HIGHLY recommend Ice Chips to anyone who suffers from chronic dry mouth. Ice Chips also satisfies the sugar craving I get as a side effect from the medication without damaging my teeth.

Great product ladies!

I first saw this product on shark tank and thought it was a great idea. Some time went by and I found a tin of licorice ice chips in a clearance bin at my local grocer. It was marked down to a dollar so I thought I would try it. I loved it. I would purchase this product in a heart beat if it was sold in bulk at a lower price. The regular price marked on the tin was $6.95, too high for my budget. I was glad to see the price lower on your web but still not at a price at which I would consider buying this product on a regular basis. I hope you can find a way to sell in bulk at a lower price point. Love the product.

Just a thought, putting a divider in the tin and offering two different types of ice chips that blend well together if a consumer wanted to mix coffee with a mint or Strawberry with margarita. I know that this is not a new concept as other candy companies do this but it would be an potential option. The idea came from reading the reviews below.
I also have to remark to those that had gastric issues, too much of anything will upset something in your system. Diabetic chocolate produces the same results if you eat to many of them. Consuming to much sorbitol (artificial sweetener in other candy products) will cause mouth sores. Common sense not to eat 1/3, 1/2 or whole tin in one day.
