We get several questions asked over and over again:

  1. What is Xylitol?
  2. What are the advantages?
  3. Why is it so expensive?
  4. Why do you use it?

The easy answers are:

  1. Xylitol is a polyol, a sugar alcohol. It is all natural, safe for diabetics and has many health benefits.
  2. It is all natural, safe for diabetics and has many health benefits.
  3. Mostly, it is made from birch bark or corn. Ice Chips Candy uses only the birch bark Xylitol in order to avoid any chance of using Genetically Modified Corn (GMO). Additionally, the process and availability render this product much more expensive than sugar.
  4. Ice Chips Candy uses Birchwood Xylitol (made in the USA), in order to access the health benefits, particularly the dental and diabetic advantages.

We researched and understood the benefits of Xylitol early on at our parent company Healing Leaf LLC. We even sold a compressed pill-like candy for a while but wanted something with a higher concentration of Xylitol and a lower price point. While we could easily acquire bulk Xylitol, we were told it was impossible to make a hard candy.

If you want to get an impossible task accomplished, you might try going to someone with little knowledge of the subject but a passion for getting things done. Because we were health product experts but not Xylitol experts we ignored all the warnings. Lo and behold, within two days of trying, we created a tasty hard Xylitol candy in three different yummy flavors. Within a week we had seven of our current 18 flavors and we were selling Ice Chips to our friends.

We never underestimate the public's willingness to do the right thing for their bodies. We understand it is possible to get a package of breath mints for a couple dollars. But those mints will not benefit teeth, fight germs and bacteria, prevent ear infections while being safe (and recommended) for diabetics.

So, in a nutshell, THAT is why we use Xylitol!

The fact that these are made locally is just icing on the cake! There are so many products out there that are "sugar free", but contain chemicals rather than naturally occurring sweeteners, it can be tricky to navigate when you are a diabetic.

I also enjoy the clean mouth feel that I get after I've eaten some of this candy, as opposed to other types of mints or candies that leave a gritty or chalky residue. THANK YOU!

I fell in love with this candy! I eat a lot of candy due to quitting smoking and all the sugar free stuff out there have many adverse chemicals. It would be great if you could send us returning customers a coupon or something. It is a bit pricey !! finally something that is good for you and tastes good!

I love the coffee/cream flavor, that's the only one I buy. I would adore it if you could make a chocolate, or even mocha, flavor. I didn't know anything about you when I started buying them at a local food coop. Too much xylitol does upset my digestion, but I try to adjust accordingly. Price is not an issue, since I don't use sugar at all.

big grin We just love Ice Chips. I purchased them on a whim from miracleskinnydrops web site and our family has been in love every since. We've already placed multiple orders!! Every time I offer a chip friends take one and then immediately ask for more!!
I agree the cost can be prohibitive but we buy them anyway. It would be nice to have a coupon from time to time. I also look forward to being able to purchase them from a local store. Please let me know were they are.

Hygienist in Yakima loves Ice Chips. Have on desk, a must have for those who can't use fluoride, co-workers, diabetics and anyone who is apprehensive to convert from sugar. Yummy, fun introduction to xylitol. Pricey for many; decay and disease more costly. I second the Starbucks flavors.

My family actually did view the Shark Tank episode and just had to try the product due to the exuberant personalities of the Two Grannies in a Garage. Okay, the price did throw us a bit, but really? Altoids and Ice Breakers are pretty close in price. Free shipping and knowing that this was an American company helped seal the deal and so we ordered the Shark Tank Special. And now? I just finished placing several Christmas orders for my in-laws, parents, friends - everyone I love. If I were Oprah, Ice Chips would definitely be one of my favorite things and I would give them out every year! Thank you, Bev and Charlotte! :)

Great product, this is my second order! My first variety pack order was order ID: 9664

I started telling everyone I work with at Mazda Corporate Headquarters (yes the Zoom Zoom company) in Irvine, CA. about the candy and letting them try it out (big mistake cause now I am ordering again - lol.

Anyway I have yet to find any of the candies in the variety pack to be unpleasant, they all taste great! Do you have any plans for Coconut, or any starbucks flavors like Carmel Machiato, if not now and you add these let me know immediately!
